Cremation Services

On our Shoulders...

At Brady & Levesque, we are one of two funeral homes in northern Vermont who can guarantee that -

YOUR LOVED ONE STAYS IN OUR CARE THE ENTIRE TIME.

A lot of funeral homes transfer your loved one into someone else's care for cremation. In other words, your loved one leaves the care of the funeral home and is entrusted with a third party. At Brady & Levesque Funeral Home, your loved one never leaves our care. Jeffrey Levesque is the only licensed cremationist in northern Vermont. We offer peace of mind in assuring that a third party will not be caring for your loved one, we will.

We also offer a 10 Point Cremation Guarantee. We are the ONLY funeral home in our area that can make this guarantee.

1. Our Code of Standards.

At Brady & Levesque Funeral Home, we have a strict code of standards and policies that we adhere to while your loved one is in our care. We only use one crematory that we know and trust to uphold our standards.

As part of our procedures, we Guarantee Jeffrey Levesque, will accompany your loved one through the entire cremation process, and will bring the cremated remains back to our funeral home with dignity and respect. We are the only funeral home that can make this guarantee. We do this to ensure that your loved one is well cared for at all times, each cremation is done individually, and to guarantee the cremated remains you receive are those of your loved one.

2. Safeguarding Personal Identity.

To ensure security, when your loved one is removed from the place of death and a family member is not present, we require the staff of the facility sign our Verification of Identity. We also never remove any identification that is on your loved one, even after they are transferred into our care.

3. A Unique Tracking System.

Prior to the begining of the cremation process, your loved one is logged into the tracking system and is assigned an identification number. This number is used to track every phase of the cremation process. This tracking system includes the date and time when your loved one is transported to the crematory. Personal belongings that are not to be cremated, are removed and kept at our funeral home prior to transportation.

4. Dignity and Respect.

Our directors will bathe and dress your loved one in the clothes provided by the family, or a gown we provide. If you wish, you may have a private viewing, to give family a chance to say goodbye. No One will be transported to the crematory without being properly dressed, and will Never be transported without their dignity and respect maintained.

5. Checks and balances to ensure correct paperwork.

We will review all cremation paperwork and permits. This is to ensure authorizations and permits have been received and properly documented. Once all documentation has been verified,  the cremation process will commence.

6. Cremation Logging.

Immediately prior to the cremation process, your loved one is taken to the crematory in a chauffer-driven hearse.  Upon arrival at the crematory, your loved one's personal identification is noted in the cremation logging system. At this time, your loved one is assigned a unique identification number. The log shows the date and time of the cremation, identification number, and the crematory operating director’s name. The crematory log is dated, and the start time is noted and initialed by the crematory director before and after the cremation.

7. Details during the cremation.

The crematory checklist is placed on the outside of the cremation chamber during the cremation process. To ensure that each cremation is done individually, and the identity of your loved one is safeguarded, a metal disk with your loved one’s identification number engraved on it, is placed inside the cremation chamber with your loved one.

8. Details after the cremation.

After the cremation is complete, the cremated remains are placed into a temporary urn that is suitable for transportation. The metal identification disk is placed in this temporary urn to continue the identification process.  This metal identification disk is ultimately placed in the urn, for permanent identification.

9. Return of the cremated remains.

After the cremation is completed, we will return to our funeral home with the remains. Our funeral directors will notify you to schedule a time for receipt of the cremated remains. At the funeral home, we can provide a dignified setting in which to receive the urn, where you may spend a few moments, privately in quiet reflection. Or, we can hand deliver the urn to your home.

10. Celebration of Life.

We will assist in planning a funeral or memorial service either before or after the cremation, which will appropriately celebrate the life of your loved one. A meaningful ceremony provides an opportunity for family and friends to pay tribute to your loved one and share the memories of a lifetime.
