Obituary for Dorothy M. Bailey

Mrs. Dorothy M. Bailey, age 93, passed away Thursday morning, April 5, 2018, with her family by her side, at the Northwestern Medical Center. She was born in Danby, VT daughter of the late Willie and Mable (Peters) Bittner, on August 6, 1924. Dorothy worked for many years as a stitcher for the Bristol Manufacturing Company. June 27, 1971 she married Leonard Bailey. Prior to that, she worked for the Bettina Company, and H.P. Hood. Dorothy enjoyed crocheting, sewing, reading, camping with her grandchildren, flower gardening, board games, and TV gameshows. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit #1.

Dorothy is survived by her husband Leonard Bailey of St. Albans, her children, Linda Berthiaume of Milton, Ralph Bailey and his companion Pauline Hardy of St. Albans, Patricia Bailey of St. Albans, 15 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, a sister-in-law Tessabelle Slosson of Washington, her step-children, Diane Paquette of Swanton, David Bailey and his wife Tina of Georgia, Wayne Bailey of Swanton, and Sandra Hobb and her husband Richard of St. Albans, and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was pre-deceased by her first husband Ralph Bailey, her sisters Catherine Barnett, Lorraine Shledon and her husband Lyndon, Lena Pigeon, Linnie Winks, and her brothers Cecil, Norman, Clarence, Clifton, and Lyndon Bittner.

A Funeral Service of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, April 11, 2018, at 10:00 AM in the Brady & Levesque Funeral Chapel. The family will receive condolences on Tuesday, April 10, 2018, from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at the funeral home, 86 South Main Street, St. Albans. Interment will be in the Bailey family lot in Milton Village Cemetery. As an alternative to flowers, memorials in her memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 55 Day Lane, Williston, VT 05495, or to the American Heart Association, 2 Wall Street, Manchester, NH 13101.
